The Classic tree swing. Simplistic, elegant and fantastic fun for the garden.

Classic tree swing, designed with a slim seat  profile and generous rounding on all edges, with cross bracing underneath for added strength. The bracing coupled with softened edges provides not only comfort, but safety as well.

The seat itself

Every single one of our tree swings are lovingly crafted by hand, from seasoned board to the finished product. Planed and finished to a thickness of 35mm with 24mm cross bracing underneath. The Classic tree swing is strong enough to be enjoyed by not only children, but adults too! Every edge and corner is softened by a 10mm radius curve, making the seat very comfortable indeed. Even the holes the ropes pass through are softened with the 10mm curve to allow the ropes to lead in and out smoothly.

Sizes

The Classic tree swing is available in 5 different sizes. From the youngest to the oldest, we guarantee there will be a size which suits you! Ranging from Junior right up to Adult+ (dimensions given in mm):

Junior: 475 x 180     Child: 550 x 200     Midi: 650 x 220     Adult: 750 x 240     Adult plus: 950 x 240

The ropes

Our Classic range incorporates the same synthetic hemp ropes as the rest of our range of tree swings does. 16mm rope is used for the whole of our classic range. These ropes are superbly made by the Master Rope Makers in the historic dock yard at Chatham. They are much more durable than natural hemp rope, meaning you wont have to worry about them rotting away. They are soft to the touch as well making them perfectly comfortable to grip onto whilst using the swing!

All of the ropes are spliced and cut to your desired length by hand in our Suffolk workshop. Classic ropes are fed thorough the top of one hole and passed back up through the other and spliced back into themselves, forming a spliced loop. As well as the spliced loop we also offer large round knots for fitting the rope to the seat.

Letter carving

Although not quite as chunky as a Woodland tree swing, personalised letter carving is still available on the Classic. The seat can be carved with a special message, name, date or phrase. There is also the option of having symbols or simple designs carved too! A proof image of what the carving will look like is sent and agreed upon before the carving actually takes place. This is so we can ensure the swing looks exactly as you would like it too. Please note carving on top of the swing will hold rain water.

Finish

Our tree swings are left bare sanded, allowing the swing to weather naturally, turning them a wonderful silvery grey with time. Small shakes/cracks may appear in the seat which add to its character with time. Oak is a very durable hardwood and can spend many years outside without the need to apply a finish.

An oiled finish (OSMO or Rustins) is available on special request.

Delivery

As with all of our tree swings, delivery is free. You will be given tracking information for your delivery. There are also some ‘inflight’ options giving you full control over your delivery. We try our best to have swings delivered to you within 3-5 weeks of your order, however this can sometimes vary. Letter carving on swings can sometimes take a little longer whilst proof images are approved. If delivery is required by a certain date please let us know and we will try our best to help where we can!
