Description

Horizon Swing Seat – A comfortable, simplistic, elegant design

Horizon has been designed to fit into both traditional and contemporary styled gardens. A simplistic pattern of differently sized back rails, give the Horizon swing seat a clean and crisp aesthetic. The seat back has a single line of symmetry through its centre from top to bottom, interesting to the eye, yet without over powering its surrounding. Ergonomically designed, Horizon is perfect for unwinding on at the end of a long, warm summers day.

The Seat

Every Horizon swing seat is lovingly handcrafted in our workshop, using the very finest materials. Horizon is made from the best English Oak boards, carefully selected for exceptional quality. The seat utilises stainless steel fixings and chains. Stainless steel is used for it’s durability, unlike steel it wont rust or react with the oak causing it to blacken over time.

The seat has a high back which slopes backwards at a gentle angle from the seat. The seat has been designed so it follows the shape of the leg, a slight lift in the slats at the front perfectly fits behind the knees, creating a very comfortable seated position.

There is also now the option of having the seat made from Accoya®, a very versatile timber which can be painted in your choice of colour (see more information below).

A-frame

Our horizon swing seats can be supplied as a seat alone option for hanging from a tree, pergola, beam or similar structure, however for people without that option we also make A-frames for our swing seats to hang from. These too are made from high quality English oak and again stainless steel is used throughout.

A-frames can be supplied with or without drink shelves. Drink shelves are perfect for popping a glass of your favourite drink on whilst enjoying the day. They are also large enough to place an average sized book on.

Sizes

Currently our swing seats are available in 2 and 3 seater sizes, however bespoke sizes are available on request.

2 seater: 1300mm     3 seater 1700mm

Swing seat A-frame footprint:

2 seater: 2500mm x 1800mm     3 seater: 2950mm x 1800mm

Letter carving

Horizon can be personalised with bespoke letter carving! This is available in three different locations, the top back rail on the seat, the front seat slat, and the A-frame beam. Letter carving is perfect for adding a personal touch to the swing, such as a name, date or special message. Bespoke carving is perfect for swings being given as presents for weddings, anniversaries or birthdays.

Finish

There are three different finish options avaialble for swing seats, Danish oil, Satin varnish or bare sanded. Because Oak is extremely durable on its own there isn’t always a need to apply a finish. The swing can be left bare sanded so it is able to start weathering from the start. Leaving the swing like this means it is almost maintenance free. The weathering process will eventually turn the seat a natural silvery grey colour. If however you would like to protect the colour of the oak, exterior Danish oil really helps to bring out the colour as well as protecting it from the elements. It is relatively easy to apply and keep on top of. Exterior satin varnish is again a slightly more durable finish which also really brings out the natural beauty of the timber.

Delivery and installation

Horizon swing seats are all delivered and installed by MR Woodcraft. When your swing seat is near completion we will get in touch with you to discuss a good delivery date. Seat’s are usually installed within 1 hour. We completely set the swing up for you, so all that is left for you to do after is enjoy the swing! Delivery cost is dependant on which county the swing is to be delivered too and how far away from our workshop that is.

Accoya®

If you would like a horizon swing seat in a colour to match your garden we can help! Accoya® is a sustainable and highly durable timber which is perfect for painting. Accoya is initially a soft wood, it then goes through a non toxic process called acetylation which changes the structures of the timber, effectively changing it into a hard wood. Because the timber is fast growing it is easily replaced and therefore eco friendly! Horizon can be made from this fantastic new timber!
